Strawberry Moon in the Heart of Azure Dragon

The full moon that appears in June is called the Strawberry Moon. In North America, the peak harvesting season for strawberries in June gives that month’s full moon its name. The Strawberry Moon is one of the few full moon names that is universal to every Algonquin tribe. The Strawberry Moon of June is sometimes referred to by Europeans as the Rose Moon, while other cultures named it the Hot Moon for the beginning of the summer heat.

’The Heart of Azure Dragon’ is an asterism containing three stars (in the Scorpio Constellation). Ancient Chinese Astrologers called it Hsin (’the Heart’), ruled by the Moon. When the moon passed through this constellation, it meant important things such as: ’Not a wise day to build. Unfavorable to those in office, law cases can result in imprisonment, presages necessity to sell one’s property. The children of a marriage contracted on this day will be afflicted. The tutellary divinity sits in the clouds and has the ability to transform peas into soldiers.’ (The Complete Guilde to Chinese Astrology, Derek Walters, 1987)
